Beech defeats Lady Commandos in rival game

The Beech Bucaneers topped the Lady Commandos by a score of 11-5 with two big innings.  The start of the game for both sides was three up, three down in the first inning.  Beech got on the board first with a solo homerun by K. McCoy.  Four more runs would cross the plate on five hits.  Beech would get three more runs in the third inning off five hits to take a 8-0 lead into the bottom of the third.  Hendersonville would cut the lead with three runs.  Alex Walker would start off with a double, followed by a single by Cierra Graham.  Melody Watson would single to bring Alex home.  Emily Mays would get on with an infield single to load the bases.  Carly Corah would single to bring Cierra home.  The final run of the inning came when Lindsey Munn was hit by a pitch with bases loaded.   Beech would get one of those runs back in the fifth inning off four hits.  Hendersonville would score its final two runs of the game in hte bottom of the fifth.  Ashleigh Stratton would double, followed by a walk to Destiny Paul.  Lindsey Munn would single to bring Ashleigh Stratton home.  Becca Griffin would get a single to load the bases.  The final run of the inning came off an Alex Walker single.  Beech would score the final two runs of the game in the top of the sixth off two hits.  Brooke Biggerstaff picked up the loss for the Lady Commandos, with Alex Banks getting the win.  The Lady Commandos will play in the Cumberland County Plateau Inviational over the weekend.  The games are set to begin on Saturday.  The Lady Commandos will play three pool play games, followed by a single elimination tournament.


In the JV game, Beech had three run third inning which proved to be enough to win the game 8-3.  Beech would score one run in the first inning.  HHS would match that run in the bottom of the first.  Emily Mays would score on an throwing error by the Lady Bucaneers.  Beech would get two runs in the second inning off three hits.  HHS would match those runs with three hits of their own.  Madi Hulsey would get a single, followed by a single by Jessica Conley, followed by a single by Ashley Brewer.  Madi scored on the Jessica Conley hit and an outfield error.  Jessica Conley would get all the way to third and score on Ashley Brewers hit.  Beech would get the lead and maintain it in the third inning.   The losing pitcher on the game for the Lady Commandos was Kalli Brothers, who pitched the entire game (four innings).  B. Nelson picked up the win for Beech.
